Insurance Companies
Insurance companies issue and sell health insurance policies to individuals or groups. They underwrite the risk and pay claims based on policy terms.
TPAs (Third Party Administrators)
TPAs are administrative service providers who handle claims processing on behalf of multiple insurance companies. They verify coverage and approve pre-authorisation.
Important Note: Insurance company empanelments are subject to periodic renewal and may change. Always verify current empanelment status by calling +91 72079 04418 before admission. If your insurance is not listed but you have an active policy, reimbursement option remains available - see Reimbursement section below.
Your Cashless Treatment Journey
Follow these steps for smooth cashless treatment at Vivekananda Hospital. Each step has clear timelines so you know what to expect.
Verify Empanelment Before Admission
Call our hospital TPA desk at +91 72079 04418 with your insurance card and policy details. Our team verifies if your specific policy is empanelled and will be accepted for cashless. Emergency admissions outside business hours are supported - the duty team will initiate pre-authorisation immediately.
Bring Required Documents
Carry original insurance card, photo ID (Aadhaar/PAN/driving license/passport), policy documents, doctor's admission prescription, all relevant medical reports. See the complete document checklist below.
Pre-Authorisation Submission
Hospital TPA desk fills the pre-authorisation form with treatment estimate and submits to your insurance company/TPA along with supporting documents. You sign the form authorising the hospital to process your claim.
Pre-Authorisation Approval
Insurance company reviews and approves pre-authorisation. Approval letter specifies the approved amount and any conditions. Hospital receives confirmation and prepares for treatment.
Refundable Deposit
For some cases, a refundable deposit may be collected pending pre-auth approval to ensure treatment can proceed. This is adjusted/refunded after final cashless settlement. Discuss with admission counsellor.
Treatment Proceeds
Once pre-authorisation is approved, treatment proceeds without upfront payment for covered items. Patient and family focus on recovery. Hospital handles ongoing communication with insurance/TPA.
Interim Enhancement
For longer stays, interim bills are sent to insurance for additional approval (enhancement). This ensures continued cashless coverage. Hospital keeps you informed of progressing bill amount.
Final Settlement
Final itemised bill is sent to insurance for settlement. Insurance pays approved amount directly to hospital. Patient pays only non-covered items - room rent difference, non-medical items, deductibles, and policy exclusions.
