Emergency imaging: on call, 24 hoursRadiologist-performed scans at Vivekananda Hospital
Dr. Srilatha Puli is the Chief Radiologist at Vivekananda Hospital, Begumpet. She trained in radiology through the DNB programme and has over 12 years of clinical imaging experience, with primary focus on obstetric ultrasound, colour Doppler studies, and ultrasound-guided procedures. She personally performs every obstetric scan the department undertakes, which is the single most important structural difference between hospital radiology and a technician-led diagnostic chain.
Her clinical strength is fetal medicine imaging. She works daily with the hospital’s OB-GYN team on high-risk pregnancies, suspected fetal anomalies, placental assessment, and third-trimester Doppler studies. A proper TIFFA anatomy survey at 18 to 22 weeks takes her 45 to 60 minutes, because every fetal structure from skull sutures to foot alignment needs a direct view. Rushing the scan defeats the reason for doing it.
Before joining Vivekananda Hospital full-time, Dr. Srilatha consulted at the Epione Center for Pain Relief, where she built a strong practical base in musculoskeletal ultrasound and image-guided injections. That MSK foundation now supports the orthopaedic and sports medicine workflows at Vivekananda, where ultrasound is used for bursitis, tendon tears, joint effusions and guided aspiration. She also interprets CT scans across neurology, trauma, emergency and general medical admissions around the clock through the on-call roster.
Patients describe her scans as unhurried and clearly explained. Reports are handed over the same day, usually within one hour of the ultrasound, and she walks the patient through the findings at the end of the scan before the written report is generated.
