The first hour decides the outcome

What to do in the first minutes after a road accident

In serious injury, the first hour matters more than anything that comes after. Getting the person to a hospital that can actually treat them, quickly, is what saves life and limb. Read this now, so you are not reading it for the first time on the day.

1
Call 7207904418 and start moving

Tell us where you are and what happened. Our casualty team gets ready while you are on the way. If the person cannot be moved safely, call an ambulance and tell them to bring you to our casualty on Greenlands Road, Begumpet.

2
Do not move a badly injured person more than needed

If there is a possible head, neck or spine injury, keep them still and let trained hands move them. Control heavy bleeding with firm pressure using a clean cloth. Keep them warm and talking.

3
Come straight to casualty, not the front desk

Our emergency entrance is on Greenlands Road. Treatment starts first. Nobody is turned away at the door over money, and the billing conversation happens once the person is stable.

4
Let us handle the police and the paperwork

A road accident is a medico-legal case, so the police must be informed. We do that ourselves as part of treating you. You do not need to go to a police station first, and treatment is never delayed for it.

The fear that costs lives

Treatment first. The police case is our job, not yours.

Why people hesitate, and why they should not

Many families lose precious time after an accident because they are afraid of the police case, or they drive past a hospital looking for one that will not ask questions. This costs lives. The law is clear and it is on your side: every hospital must give immediate emergency care to an accident victim, and no hospital can refuse or delay treatment while waiting for the police.

At Vivekananda Hospital we start treatment straight away and we handle the medico-legal formalities ourselves. We record the case as required, inform the police as required, and guide your family through what little you need to do, all after the injured person is safe and stable. Your only job is to get them here fast.

Under one roof

A hospital that can treat every kind of accident injury

A road accident rarely injures just one part of the body. The danger is being sent from hospital to hospital while the clock runs. Here, the trauma teams are under one roof, so a person with more than one injury is managed in one place.

24 hour casualty and emergency, with an ICU and ventilator support on site
Fractures and orthopaedic trauma, with an orthopaedic surgeon on call
Head and spine injury, with neurosurgery available
Face and jaw injury, with maxillofacial surgery
Chest and abdominal injury, with general and laparoscopic surgery
Digital X-ray, ultrasound and a full lab in the same building
Physiotherapy and rehabilitation for a proper recovery, not an early one
NABH-accredited multispecialty hospital, treating Begumpet since 1995

The hospital a patient reaches in the first hour matters more than almost anything we do afterwards. A serious accident needs casualty, imaging, ICU and a surgeon in the same building, working together, not a patient being shifted between places while the bleeding continues. That is what an accident hospital has to mean.

Money and insurance

What accident treatment costs, and how insurance works

Treatment starts first. The cost is explained once the person is stable. We are an independent hospital, not a corporate chain, and our packages are among the more affordable in central Hyderabad. Nobody is refused emergency care over money.

If the injured person has insurance, or a scheme such as CGHS, ESI, Aarogyasri or Arogyabhadratha, our desk checks it and arranges cashless treatment where the policy allows, starting the pre-authorisation while care is underway. Many gig workers and delivery riders also have accident cover through the platform they work with and never claim it. If that is you or your family, see our gig worker accident and health care page, we file that claim for you.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

What should I do first after a road accident in Hyderabad?

Call 7207904418 and tell us where you are and what happened, then get the injured person to our casualty on Greenlands Road, Begumpet, as fast as is safe. Do not wait to arrange money or paperwork first. Treatment starts the moment you arrive, and the billing and police formalities are handled after the person is stable. If the person cannot be moved safely, call an ambulance and tell them to bring you to us.

Will the hospital treat an accident case before the police come?

Yes. An accident injury is an emergency and we begin treatment immediately. We are required to inform the police because a road accident is a medico-legal case, and we do that ourselves as part of the process. You do not need to bring the police first, and treatment is never delayed waiting for them. Our staff handle the medico-legal record and guide your family through it.

Do you have a 24 hour casualty and ICU?

Yes. Our casualty and emergency department is open 24 hours, every day, with an ICU and ventilator support on site. We have an orthopaedic surgeon on call for fractures, neurosurgery available for head injury, and general and laparoscopic surgery for chest and abdominal injury. Digital X-ray, ultrasound and the lab are in the same building, so a seriously injured person is assessed and treated without being moved elsewhere.

How much does accident and emergency treatment cost?

In an emergency, treatment starts first and the cost is explained to you and your family once the person is stable. We are an independent hospital, not a corporate chain, and our packages are among the more affordable in central Hyderabad. If the person is covered by insurance or a scheme such as CGHS, ESI, Aarogyasri or Arogyabhadratha, our desk checks it and arranges cashless treatment where the policy allows.

Do you accept cashless insurance for accident cases?

Yes. We are empanelled with CGHS, ESI, Aarogyasri, Arogyabhadratha and more than 25 private insurers and TPAs. For an accident, treatment begins straight away, and our insurance desk starts the cashless pre-authorisation with your insurer in parallel. Many gig workers also have accident cover through the platform they work with, and we help claim it even if you did not know you had it.

Can you handle a head injury or a serious multiple injury?

Yes. We are a 100-bed multispecialty hospital with neurosurgery for head and spine injury, orthopaedics for fractures, maxillofacial surgery for face and jaw injury, and general and laparoscopic surgery for internal injury, backed by an on-site ICU. Because these teams are under one roof, a person with more than one injury is managed in one place rather than being referred out mid-treatment.

Where exactly is the hospital and how do I reach casualty?

Vivekananda Hospital is at 6-3-871/A, Greenlands Road, beside the CM Camp Office, Begumpet, Hyderabad 500016. It is 10 to 15 minutes from Ameerpet, Somajiguda, Punjagutta, Khairatabad and Secunderabad. The casualty and emergency entrance is on Greenlands Road. Call 7207904418 while you are on the way so the team is ready when you arrive.

What should I bring for an accident patient?

Bring the patient first and the paperwork later. Nothing is needed to start emergency treatment. When someone in the family can, it helps to bring any ID, any insurance or scheme card, and the phone number of a close relative. If there is any record from the accident scene or an earlier hospital, bring that too, but never delay reaching us to collect documents.

Do you provide an ambulance?

Call 7207904418 and we will guide you on the fastest way to reach casualty and help arrange transport where we can. In a road accident, the priority is safe and quick transfer, so if a government or private ambulance is already at the scene, have them bring you to our casualty on Greenlands Road, Begumpet. Tell the ambulance team to call us on the way so we are ready.

Save this number before you need it
