What the job does to your body

The problems ten hours on a bike causes

These are the complaints we hear most from riders. None of them are your fault, they come with the work. All of them are treatable, and cheaper to fix early.

Back and neck painFrom road vibration and long hours hunched in one posture.
Stones and urine infectionFrom holding urine all shift and not drinking enough in the heat.
Piles and fissuresFrom long hours seated on a bike seat, made worse by dehydration.
Weaker eyesightThe problem we find most at camps, and the one that matters most on the road.
Blood pressure and sugarSilent until serious. Skipped meals and stress push both up over time.
Chest and breathingFrom breathing traffic air for hours a day, every day.

You do not have to live on painkillers. Get a basic check once a year even when you feel fine, because the two that hurt riders most, high blood pressure and high blood sugar, cause nothing at all until they cause something serious.

Small things that help

Simple habits that protect a rider's body

General guidance, not a treatment plan. If pain is persistent or getting worse, see a doctor rather than ignoring it.

Stand and stretch every couple of hours. Even two minutes off the seat resets your back and hips. Use the wait at a pickup point.
Drink water through the shift, do not hold urine. This is the single biggest thing you can do to avoid stones and urine infections.
Wear a proper helmet and keep your eyesight checked. Most serious injuries we treat are head injuries, and clear vision at dusk keeps you out of accidents.
Get one basic health check a year. Blood pressure, blood sugar and eyesight. The free hub camp takes ten minutes and catches the silent problems early.
At your hub

We bring the doctor to your hub, free

You should not have to lose deliveries to see a doctor. We run free health camps at delivery hubs and dark stores, usually in the quiet stretch between the lunch and dinner peaks. Blood pressure, blood sugar, weight, eyesight, back and posture, and hearing, checked in about ten minutes per rider, at no charge and no obligation. If anything looks off, we call you within two days to explain what it means.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

What health problems are common in delivery riders?

The job causes a predictable set of problems: back and neck pain from vibration and long hours in one posture, kidney stones and urine infections from holding urine and not drinking enough in the heat, piles and fissures from long hours seated, knee strain, weaker eyesight, and lung irritation from traffic air. High blood pressure and high blood sugar are common too and cause no symptoms until they turn serious, which is why a yearly check matters even when you feel fine.

Do you offer free health checks for delivery riders?

Yes. We run free health camps at delivery hubs and dark stores, usually in the quiet afternoon window between the lunch and dinner peaks so it does not cost you deliveries. We check blood pressure, blood sugar, weight, eyesight, back and posture, and hearing in about ten minutes per rider, at no charge. If anything looks off, we call you within two days to explain it. Ask your hub to arrange one, or message us.

I get back pain from riding all day. What can I do?

Back and neck pain is the most common complaint we hear from riders. Simple things help: adjust your seat and posture so you are not hunched, take short breaks to stand and stretch every couple of hours, keep your core reasonably strong, and do not ignore pain that spreads down a leg or comes with numbness. If the pain is persistent or getting worse, see a doctor rather than living on painkillers, because early treatment and physiotherapy prevent it becoming a long-term problem.

How do I register and what does it cost?

Registration is free. There is no card to buy, no joining fee and no monthly payment. Call or WhatsApp 7207904418, or register at a camp at your hub. Once registered you get a free first consultation, agreed prices in writing before any planned treatment, free accident insurance claim help, and access to the free hub camps. Your immediate family is covered by the same registration.

What should I do if I have an accident while delivering?

Call 7207904418 and come straight to our casualty on Greenlands Road, Begumpet. Treatment starts first and the paperwork is handled after you are stable. We have a 24 hour casualty, ICU, and an orthopaedic surgeon on call for fractures. We also file your accident insurance claim for you. See our road accident and emergency care page for the full details.

Which delivery companies is this for?

All of them, and none of them exclusively. This is open to any delivery rider in Hyderabad, whether you deliver food, groceries or parcels, and whether you work with one platform or several. Vivekananda Hospital is an independent hospital and is not connected to or endorsed by any platform company. Where platforms are named, it is only to describe the work our patients do.

Can my family use this too?

Yes. Your free registration covers your immediate family. They can use the free first consultation and the agreed prices in the same way you can, and they are welcome at the free health camps we run at partner hubs.

How often should a delivery rider get a health check?

At least once a year, even when you feel completely fine. High blood pressure and high blood sugar are silent, they cause nothing at all until they cause something serious like a heart or kidney problem. A basic yearly check of blood pressure, blood sugar and eyesight catches these early, when they are easy to manage. The free hub camps exist for exactly this.
