New India Assurance is on our insurance and empanelments page. The next step is confirming what your own policy allows for this admission.
How to confirm the New India Assurance network for your policy
Search results for a New India Assurance hospital list in Hyderabad mostly show third-party directories. For a cashless admission, what counts is the network of the TPA on your health card, read alongside New India Assurance's official website.
- Locate the TPA on your health card or policy schedule, along with the policy number and renewal date.
- Search that TPA's hospital list for Vivekananda Hospital, Begumpet, PIN 500016.
- Verify the hospital name and address. Lists may use a shortened name. Our desk or the TPA can confirm the match.
- Check the admission against the policy: the procedure, room eligibility, available sum insured and any waiting period still running.
If your policy mentions PPN rates, ask whether they apply to your procedure. If the hospital is not in your TPA's search, contact our desk and the TPA before you plan a cashless admission.
New India health policies and what to check for each
| Policy | What to check before admission |
|---|---|
| New India Mediclaim (individual) | Sum insured including any cumulative bonus, room limit and waiting periods |
| Floater Mediclaim and Flexi Floater | Family sum insured already used this year and the room limit |
| Senior Citizen Mediclaim (ages 60 to 80) | Co-payment and limits on specific treatments |
| Top-up Mediclaim | The threshold and which base policy pays first |
| Premier Mediclaim and higher-cover plans | Plan variant, room category allowed and any sub-limits |
| Group and employer mediclaim | Enrolment for the current year, family rules, maternity and room limits |
Your policy schedule and the TPA's approval decide what is covered for this admission, not the plan name alone.
Five checks before a planned surgery under New India Assurance
Most cashless surprises happen with planned procedures. Run these checks with our desk before you fix a surgery date:
- Waiting periods. Pre-existing conditions and procedures such as cataract, hernia and joint replacement often carry waiting periods. Check your first policy start date, not just the latest renewal.
- Available sum insured. Add any cumulative bonus shown in your schedule and subtract claims already made this year.
- Room eligibility. Choose a room within your limit to avoid proportionate deductions.
- Co-payment. Senior citizen and some group policies include a fixed patient share.
- Second policy or top-up. Declare it at admission if the estimate may exceed your base cover.
Planning a joint replacement or hernia repair? See our knee replacement cost guide and hernia surgery cost guide for typical package details to compare with your available cover.
Documents required for New India Assurance cashless admission
| Document | What to check |
|---|---|
| New India health card or policy number | Patient name, member ID and the TPA shown |
| Latest policy schedule | Validity, sum insured, cumulative bonus, room limit and co-payment |
| First policy start date (renewals) | Needed to check waiting periods for planned surgery |
| Aadhaar and PAN | Identity documents. Ask the desk whose are needed if you are not the patient. |
| Doctor's advice and reports | The recommendation for admission plus relevant investigations |
| Employer ID (group policies) | Needed for employer and group mediclaim covers |
On WhatsApp, begin with a request for guidance and ask how to share documents securely before sending Aadhaar, PAN or reports.
New India Assurance cashless admission: step by step
Planned admission
- Contact the insurance desk 2 to 3 working days ahead with your health card and the treatment advised.
- Complete the five checks above and share the documents.
- Pre-authorisation. The hospital sends the treatment plan and estimate to your TPA.
- Respond to queries and keep the request reference number.
- Review the approval for the authorised amount, room eligibility and your expected share.
Emergency admission
In an emergency, the patient is stabilised before any paperwork. Once care has started, a relative hands the New India health card to our insurance desk and the cashless request is raised from the ward. Check your policy for the time limit to inform the insurer of an emergency admission.
During the stay and at discharge
Longer stays or a change in the treatment plan need fresh approval, which the desk requests from the TPA as an enhancement. On the day of discharge, the final bill goes to the TPA for settlement, and you receive a breakdown showing what the policy paid and what, if anything, is yours to pay.
What will I need to pay?
For approved cashless treatment, Vivekananda Hospital does not collect an additional amount beyond the insurance claim, except applicable co-payments, policy deductions and items not covered by your policy.
| Possible patient share | When it applies to New India policyholders |
|---|---|
| Co-payment | Senior Citizen Mediclaim and some group policies carry a fixed percentage you pay on each claim |
| Room rent difference | You stay in a room category above your policy limit; other charges may also be reduced in proportion |
| Balance above the sum insured | The bill exceeds the sum insured left this year, including any cumulative bonus, and no top-up applies |
| Disallowed items | Consumables and charges the TPA excludes under your policy wording |
A refundable deposit may be requested while the TPA's decision is awaited. It is settled against the final bill.
When cashless is pending or not approved
Waiting-period and documentation issues are the most common reasons for a New India cashless request to stall. The desk tells you which one applies. If the request is not approved, treatment can continue on a self-pay basis and you can file a reimbursement claim with New India Assurance or your TPA afterwards, using the original bills, payment receipts, discharge summary and reports that we hand over at discharge. The reimbursement decision is made separately by the insurer.

Frequently asked questions
Does Vivekananda Hospital accept New India Assurance for cashless treatment?
Yes. The New India Assurance Co. Ltd. is on our hospital's empanelment list. Cashless approval for each admission depends on your policy terms, the network that applies to your policy and the TPA or claims team named on your health card. Contact the insurance desk before a planned admission.
Is New India Assurance a government insurance company?
Yes. The New India Assurance Company Limited is a public sector general insurer. It was founded in 1919 by Sir Dorabji Tata and offers health, motor, travel, home and commercial insurance.
Where can I find the New India Assurance hospital list in Hyderabad?
Use New India Assurance's official website and the hospital search of the TPA printed on your health card. Search for Vivekananda Hospital, Begumpet, PIN 500016. If the listing is unclear, call our desk and the TPA before planning a cashless admission.
Can I use my New India Mediclaim or Floater Mediclaim policy for cashless?
Yes. Individual and family floater New India policies, including New India Mediclaim and Floater Mediclaim, can be used for cashless admission subject to approval. Share the policy schedule so the request matches your sum insured, room limit and waiting periods.
Does New India Senior Citizen Mediclaim work for cashless here?
Yes, subject to policy terms and approval. New India's Senior Citizen Mediclaim is designed for people aged 60 to 80. Senior covers can include a co-payment or limits on specific treatments, so ask the desk to explain your share before admission.
When does the New India Top-up Mediclaim pay?
A top-up pays for the eligible amount above its threshold, usually after your base policy has paid. Tell the desk about both policies at admission. The base policy is claimed first and the top-up covers the eligible balance under its own terms.
Does my cumulative bonus increase the amount available for cashless?
If your New India policy has earned a cumulative bonus, it can add to the sum insured available for the policy year, as shown in your schedule. The TPA confirms the available amount when it reviews the cashless request, so share your latest renewal schedule.
Can a planned surgery be declined because of a waiting period?
Yes. Many policies have waiting periods for pre-existing conditions and for specified procedures such as cataract, hernia or joint replacement. If the policy is still within that period, cashless can be declined. Ask the desk to check your policy start date and waiting periods before scheduling surgery.
Can I use my employer or group New India policy?
Usually yes, if the patient is enrolled for the current policy year. Group mediclaim policies often have their own room limits, maternity terms and family rules, so share the current health card and employer ID with our desk.
Which TPA handles my New India Assurance policy?
The TPA or claims team is printed on your New India health card or policy schedule. Different New India policies can be serviced by different TPAs, so always check your own card.
What documents do I need for New India Assurance cashless admission?
Carry the New India health card or policy number, your latest renewal schedule, the first policy start date if you have renewed, Aadhaar and PAN, the doctor's advice and relevant reports. Group policy members should also bring their employer ID.
How long does New India Assurance cashless approval take?
There is no single fixed time. Complete documents and a policy outside its waiting periods move fastest. For planned surgery, start with our desk 2 to 3 working days before the date; for an emergency, the request is raised once treatment has begun.
Will I pay anything for approved cashless treatment?
Under our hospital payment policy, you pay only applicable co-payments, room rent differences, amounts above the available sum insured, policy deductions and items not covered by your policy. The desk explains your share before discharge.
What if my New India cashless request is declined?
First find out why, as waiting periods and missing documents are the usual causes. You can then proceed on a self-pay basis and submit a reimbursement claim to New India Assurance or your TPA with the original bills, receipts, discharge summary and reports. The insurer decides that claim separately.
